“The Windermere Children” nominated for a BAFTA

Very proud that after winning Best EuropeanTV Movie of the Year prize at Prix Europa earlier in 2020, the film also picked up a BAFTA nomination for Best Single Drama. It was a really special project to be a part of, and I’m really proud of the score which was released by Sony Classical.

Staged Season 2 on BBC One.. and a free score

After eleven months of lockdown feeling like the new normal, it’s still hard to believe that we managed to make two whole series of Staged totally remotely on zoom. It was a complete joy to score Series 2, with a brilliant list of guest stars including Michael Palin, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Cate Blanchet, Christoph Waltz, Whoopi Goldberg…...

BBC One comedy STAGED coming to screens in June starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen

Very happy to announce I've been composing music for a brilliant new six part comedy called "Staged" staring David Tennant, Michael Sheen (and some special guests yet to be announced). Directed by Simon Evans - Simon and I were due to be opening a theatre production in Chichester just before lockdown - so he wrote this rather wonderful comedy (about a play cancelled by Covid-19) when it was cancelled (all coming together from conception to near completion in just over a month). The score is written for bass clarinet ensemble and Calor Gas bottle (one of my new favourite percussion......

Collaborating completely remotely – the edit, mix, grade and creative process was all done on Zoom meetings (with Idris’ voiceover being recorded on an iPhone). The score was recorded...

“A Life Lived” from The Windermere Children (live piano version)

I've recently recorded this live piano version of "A Life Lived" from The Windermere Children in my studio. Whilst the production was still filming, I was so moved after reading the script for the first time - so sat at the piano and tried to put down some of the emotions that came out; thinking about how those children must have felt arriving in Windermere after being freed from Auschwitz and Theresienstadt weeks before. It's not often that a script can move you to tears like that! A shortened version appears in the end credits of the film, but the......
